I had the pleasure of attending one of Kent Seton’s free monthly seminars for nonprofits yesterday, and I wanted to let you know how helpful I found it. Kent relayed a great deal of helpful information regarding the structuring of nonprofits, getting a fledgling nonprofit off the ground, Board of Directors responsibility and liability, and fundraising rules. Thank you, I got the letter last night and I cannot tell you what great timing it was……we had a Board meeting last night and I was able to announce this and as it turns out we are in the running for a grant that would help us build an amazing dog park and the fact that we are qualified will really help push us ahead of the competition.
I cannot thank your organization enough……..we got the qualification letter in about six weeks from the date of submission to the IRS, which based on the IRS’s confirmation of receipt letter to us meant that the application was perfect. Today, I received my notification from the IRS that our organization has been recognized by the IRS as a non-profit corporation. Now, I would like to applaud your organization fir their fine efforts in helping us to attain this status. Our board of directors gave me the go-ahead to seek non-profit status in January of this year. I did a great deal of research in this regard as this also encompassed incorporation, acquiring an employer ID number, etc. Obviously, I was looking for a single entity that could help us in this regard and do it in a timely manner. I probably interviewed 8-10 companies who were able to provide these services, including Seton & Associates. Without exception, each of these companies estimated that it would take approximately six months to complete the process. However, when I spoke to Dana Graham of your staff, she offered that your expedited service might be able to cut that waiting period by half. That was important to us since we needed this designation in order to publish our toll free referral hotline in telephone directories throughout the country and provide information on resources for those looking to seek help with substance abuse problems. Each and every day that the number wasn't published, thousands of abusers were not being helped.
We began the process, from scratch, in mid January. By January 25, we received a full set of Corporate By-Laws, as written by your staff, and on January 31, we were fully incorporated in the State of Florida. Shortly thereafter we received our Federal Employee Identification Number. On March 9, the IRS receipted our application for non-profit status and on April 2, that status was granted. In other words, in about 75 days we had gone from a nonentity to a fully operational non-profit organization and I dare say we couldn't have done it without the help of the fine staff at Seton & Associates. Ms. Graham was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. As a relative neophyte in this area, she was able to explain the process and guide me along when she needed my input or action. For the most part, however, I was able to just sit back and let the process take its course in a much shortened time span than I could have ever hoped for if I had chosen to have another company represent us. I'm sure that others were also involved in gathering, assimilating and developing the appropriate documentation necessary to attain our desired goal. To them we are also grateful. Mr. Seton, you should be proud of your organization, your employees and the manner in which they perform their duties both professionally and expeditiously. Thank you so much.

Thanks to you and your team for the good work that you did with the incorporation, bylaws and 501(c)3 application for CRC of New Jersey (Children's Rights Council of New Jersey). Our not-for-profit implements child access transfer centers in New Jersey. These centers help the children of never married, separated and divorced parents by offering a safe a and monitored place for children to be exchanged between the parents. Some centers also offer supervised access/visitation, where parents and children can spend time together at the site, but the parents are now allowed to leave with the children.
We initially contacted you on January 9; we submitted our application to the IRS on March 15, and received our approval from the IRS on April 16th. Having heard that the IRS only approves about 30% of initial applications, and usually requests additional information or has questions, we were pleasantly surprised that our application was approved in the first round. This approval is testimony to your knowledge of the IRS requirements, and your ability to guide your clients through the process.
